Devil's Dyke, Sussex - 15/07/17

A stunning natural beauty spot in the South downs managed by the National Trust. Here's a snapshot of what I saw there this day.

Betony
Betonica officinalis

Greater Knapweed
Centaurea scabiosa

Dwarf Thistle
Cirsium acaule

 Wild Basil
Clinopodium vulgare

 Hemp-agrimony
Eupatorium cannabinum

Common Rockrose
Helianthemum nummularium

A lovely mix of chalk grassland species

Field Scabious
Knautia arvensis

 Red Bartsia
Odontites vernus

Wild Marjoram
Origanum vulgare

Devil's Dyke view of the South Downs National Park

The untold back story here was the search for Round-headed Rampion, county flower of Sussex - I didn't find any!

Take care
